Sedgefield Woman’s Club Civic Engagement Committee is partnering with Family Services of the Piedmont to provide Welcome Kits for our 2025 GFWC International Day of Service. This group operates two shelters in Greensboro that serve individuals escaping domestic abuse and violence. These shelters welcome an average of 13 guests nightly and provide a vital haven during times of immense need.
Please help our group make a tangible impact by donating Welcome Kits filled with essential items that offer comfort and dignity to every guest. Their wish list includes:
· Bath towels (new)
· Bedsheets (Twin XL, new)
· Blankets (light for warmer months; heavy for colder months — new or gently used)
· Pillows (new, twin)
· Soft socks (new)
**As we prepare our Welcome Kits for our upcoming outreach project, we kindly ask all donors to consider the diverse identities of those who will be receiving them. Please avoid bedding or accessories that may include gendered messaging, and instead opt for neutral designs, colors, and patterns that affirm comfort, dignity, and inclusion for everyone. Thoughtful choices help ensure that each recipient feels respected and valued.
The vision is to collect these items, assemble kits tied with ribbon, and include a positive notecard to help guests feel truly welcomed.
The Committee will collect items at our September General Meeting, September 19, 2025, and on the International Day of Service—September 27, 2025, at committee member Patty Cates home see roster for address. Once the kits are assembled, the committee will coordinate delivery to the Jamestown Office of Family Services. Questions can be directed to Geri Sheffey at 336-601-0673.
We thank you for your generosity and kindness as it will make a tremendous difference in our community, and support GFWC’s International Day of Service.
